The Health and Medical Education Authority at Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced that approximately 22% of all children diagnosed with cancer across Iraq have been provided with fully free treatment through branches of the Warith International Foundation during the current year, confirming the continuation of its plans to expand and accommodate a larger number of patients.
The Head of the Authority, Dr. Haidar Hamza Al-Abadi, stated in an interview with the official website: "Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, through the Warith Foundation, has managed during the current year (2026) to reach nearly 22% of children diagnosed with cancer across Iraq, providing them with complete treatment free of charge."
He added that "treatment is provided across the branches of the Warith International Foundation, represented by Warith Hospital, Al-Mujtaba Hospital, and Al-Thaqalayn Hospital, while the foundation continues its plans aimed at expanding and increasing its capacity to receive patients."
Al-Abadi explained that "the foundation's teams continue to provide support and assistance to their colleagues at oncology centers affiliated with the Ministry of Health across all governorates, contributing to integration among health institutions and elevating the quality of medical care provided to children with cancer."
He emphasized that "Imam Hussain Holy Shrine is moving forward with enhancing its capacity, developing its infrastructure, and acquiring the latest medical technologies in accordance with international standards, with the goal of alleviating the financial burden on Iraqi families and providing integrated treatment services within the country."
