The Department of Hussaini Ceremonies and Processions at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced the extent of its organizational services and facilities provided to participating processions during the successful Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him), resulting in the smooth management of thousands of processions without recording any security or organizational breaches.
Speaking to the official website, the Deputy Head of the Department of Hussaini Bodies and Processions, Engineer Raafat Abdul-Aoun Rahim, stated that "joint efforts between the department, local community coordinators from Karbala, and supporting departments contributed to the success of the Arbaeen organizing plan, with procession movement characterized by exceptionally high smooth flow and organization without recording any breaches."
He explained that the overall total of guarantees and permits issued reached 15,818, distributed between service and mourning processions. Among these were over 885 mourning processions that initiated their rituals from the Qibla Gate toward the inner Holy Courtyard across three alternating axes: the Jumhouriya Axis, the Markaziya Axis, and the Mukhayyam Axis. Additionally, 654 service processions were registered within the vicinity of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine in the Old City.
He added that this year featured high-precision preparation and organization distinct from previous years, contributing to the success of this million-strong pilgrimage. Specific timings and a schedule were established for all governorates: Safar 13, 14, and 15 were designated for processional caravans (Dha'n), Safar 16 and 17 for the Zanjeel (chain-striking) mourning processions, and Safar 18 and 19 for the Raddat (choral chant) mourning processions.
It is worth noting that the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine annually mobilizes all its service and organizational personnel and departments to ensure the safety and seamless movement of millions of pilgrims and incoming Hussaini processions arriving in the holy city of Karbala to commemorate the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
