The Youth Development and Social Rehabilitation Department of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced its plan for the commemoration of the holy month of Muharram, aimed at providing the best possible services to visitors arriving in Holy Karbala.
Speaking to the official website, the head of the department, Mr. Mohammed Mohsen Al-Nasrawi, said that "the Youth Development and Social Rehabilitation Department of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced its plan for the commemoration of the holy month of Muharram, aimed at providing the best services to visitors arriving in Karbala."
He explained that "the plan includes deploying (550) mobile paramedics from among volunteers and trained scout members skilled in medical evacuation procedures and the rescue of critical and severe cases. They will be distributed across (43) medical and emergency units inside and outside the Holy Husayni Shrine to ensure the safety of visitors."
He added that "the plan for the (9th) of Muharram includes the deployment of (21) mobile emergency units, divided into (9) units inside the Holy Husayni Shrine and (12) units outside it. These teams will provide first aid to emergency cases and transfer critical patients directly to Safeer Imam Hussein Surgical Hospital at its main facility, its field hospital in the courtyard of Al-Aqeela Zainab, or the Emergency Center of the Health and Medical Education Authority on Al-Sidra Street if required."
He continued that "for the (10th) of Muharram, during the Tuwairij Run mourning procession, the department will deploy (22) mobile units, with (11) units inside the Holy Shrine and an equal number outside. These units have been carefully positioned along the main procession routes to ensure rapid response and immediate emergency intervention."
These exceptional efforts by the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, through the deployment of trained youth and scout personnel, serve as a vital healthcare support system that keeps pace with the massive crowds and assists official health institutions in managing large gatherings and coordinating medical evacuations efficiently throughout the days of mourning.
