The Imam Al-Hadi Center for Neuromuscular Disorders, affiliated with the Health and Medical Education Authority of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, participated in the annual conference of the Peripheral Nerve Society (PNS 2026), held in the city of Maastricht, the Netherlands, for the second consecutive year.
Speaking to the official website, neurologist Dr. Akram Ali Al-Mousawi said that "the Imam Al-Hadi Center for Neuromuscular Disorders, affiliated with the Health and Medical Education Authority of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, participated in the annual conference of the Peripheral Nerve Society (PNS 2026), held in the city of Maastricht in the Netherlands, for the second consecutive year." He noted that "the participation represents a new medical achievement added to the center’s record of successes, as the conference witnessed a distinguished presence of Iraqi medical research outputs."
He explained that "our participation for the second consecutive year in this important global scientific gathering comes on behalf of the Health and Medical Education Authority of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine to showcase the latest achievements of Iraqi professionals in advanced medical specialties."
He added that "the center’s participation featured a pioneering research paper focused on (Developing Nerve Biopsy Services in Iraq Using Sequential Diagnostic Steps), which received broad appreciation and a warm reception from various participating international medical institutions."
He continued that "the research paper primarily highlighted the center’s pioneering experience in developing nerve biopsy services for neurological patients in Iraq, presenting the sequential diagnostic steps adopted by the center, which have contributed to a qualitative advancement in the diagnosis of complex neurological and genetic disorders for the first time in the country and in accordance with the latest medical standards."
He confirmed that "the research received significant positive feedback and support from prominent international medical institutions present at the conference."
This major scientific achievement reflects the level of support and leadership provided by the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine to healthcare and educational institutions, as well as its commitment to keeping pace with global medical developments, enhancing Iraq’s scientific presence at leading international conferences, and advancing the efficiency of the country’s healthcare system.
