The Strategic Projects Department of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced the continuation of work on the Vocational Qualification Secondary School project, a step aimed at strengthening educational infrastructure and advancing vocational education pathways in Karbala Governorate.
Speaking to the official website, the head of the department, Engineer Mohammed Diaa Mohammed, said that “the Strategic Projects Department of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine continues work on the implementation of the Vocational Qualification Secondary School project, in a step aimed at enhancing educational infrastructure and developing vocational education pathways in Karbala Governorate.”
He explained that “the project represents a significant addition to the education sector, covering a total area of (14,150) m² and providing a capacity of (18) fully integrated classrooms, designed in accordance with the latest architectural and educational standards.”
He added that “the project consists of two floors. The ground floor, with a built-up area of (1551) m², includes (8) classrooms, each measuring (48) m², in addition to a science laboratory, administrative offices designated for management and assistants, staff rest areas, a cafeteria, student changing rooms, an open internal courtyard covering (384) m², and fully integrated sanitary facilities separated for students and staff.”
He continued that “the first floor, with a built-up area of (1524) m², includes (10) classrooms of varying sizes, specialized laboratories, and three large training workshops, each covering up to (137) m², helping to strengthen students’ practical and vocational skills. The design also features a distinctive architectural layout with a central area overlooking the ground floor, providing natural lighting and giving the building a modern aesthetic character.”
He noted that “technical teams have completed the concrete pouring of the project’s foundations and have begun work on the first-floor columns,” stressing that “all stages of construction are subject to precise laboratory testing and are being carried out under the supervision of a select group of specialized engineering and technical personnel, in accordance with the highest approved engineering and technical standards.”
Through this project, the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine reaffirms its commitment to supporting the education sector, particularly in the field of vocational training, contributing to the preparation of qualified young professionals capable of meeting labor market needs and serving the community.
