The Strategic Projects Department of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced the commencement of work on the Vocational Qualification Secondary School project, in a step aimed at enhancing educational infrastructure and developing vocational education pathways in Karbala province.
The head of the department, engineer Mohammed Diaa Mohammed, said in a statement to the official website, “The Strategic Projects Department of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has begun implementing the Vocational Qualification Secondary School project, in a step aimed at strengthening educational infrastructure and advancing vocational education pathways in Karbala province.”
He explained that “the project represents a qualitative addition to the education sector, with a total area of (14,150) m² and a capacity of (18) fully equipped classrooms, designed in accordance with the latest architectural and educational standards.”
He added that “the project consists of two floors. The ground floor, with a built-up area of (1551) m², includes (8) classrooms, each measuring (48) m², in addition to a science laboratory, administrative offices designated for management and assistants, and rooms for staff rest. It also features a cafeteria, student changing rooms, an open internal courtyard covering (384) m², as well as fully integrated and separate sanitary facilities for students and staff.”
He continued that “the first floor, with a built-up area of (1524) m², includes (10) classrooms of varying sizes, along with specialized laboratories and three large training workshops, each with an area of up to (137) m², contributing to the development of students’ practical and vocational skills. It also features a distinctive architectural design with a central area overlooking the ground floor, providing natural lighting and giving the building a modern aesthetic character.”
Through this project, the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine reaffirms its continued support for the education sector, particularly in vocational training, contributing to the preparation of qualified young professionals who meet labor market needs and serve the community.
