Karbala Prepares to Launch Iraq’s Largest Children’s Carnival

The holy city of Karbala is preparing to host the country’s largest children’s reading carnival, the Karbala International Children’s Book Fair, scheduled to run from September 23 to October 2 close to the sacred grounds of the Two Holy Shrines of Imam Hussain and Al-Abbas (peace be upon them).

This major cultural and educational initiative is organized by the Child Care and Development Department at the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain, under the slogan: “Read. Play. Learn.”

Montadar Al-Nasrawi, head of the organizing department, explained: “The fair will offer children a comprehensive experience, combining books that expand their horizons, educational activities that promote cooperation, and interactive competitions that inspire enthusiasm and creativity.”

Far more than a traditional book fair, the event is designed as an immersive environment where education and entertainment converge, creating lasting memories for young visitors. With the direct support of the General Secretariat of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain, the exhibition seeks to cultivate a love of reading among children while offering enriching experiences for families.

Featuring interactive workshops, live performances, creative play areas, and educational challenges, the fair is expected to attract families from across Iraq and abroad, making it a landmark event in Karbala’s cultural calendar.
