The Hospitality Department of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) at the Holy Shrine announced the scale of services provided to pilgrims during the Arbaeen pilgrimage of the year 1447 AH, which continued throughout the visitation period and will remain in place until the departure of the last pilgrim from Karbala.

Adnan Al-Naqeeb, head of the department, told the official website: “The Hospitality Department of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) at the Holy Shrine successfully implemented its special plan for the Arbaeen pilgrimage of 1447 AH.” He explained that “a total of 5,498,443 main meals were distributed, at a rate of three meals per day, beginning on the 8th of Safar and continuing until the 20th.”

He added that the services were not limited to main meals. From the 9th to the 20th of Safar, the department also distributed more than 5,335,200 bottles of water and juice, around 1,877,760 ice cream servings, 687,200 pieces of sweets, and over 700,000 Basil seeds and lemon juice cartons.

Al-Naqeeb further noted that service to the pilgrims included the distribution of fruits, with more than 900,000 pieces of oranges and bananas, in addition to over 40 tons of watermelon and nearly 90 tons of assorted fruits. He highlighted that all these efforts were made to meet the needs of the millions who flocked to the holy city of Karbala to commemorate the Arbaeen of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him).

He emphasized that the department’s staff will continue providing meals and food services until the last pilgrim leaves Karbala, in fulfillment of their religious and service duty toward the visitors of the Master of Martyrs (peace be upon him).

The Hospitality Department of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him), affiliated with the Holy Shrine, reaffirms its ongoing commitment to offering the best services to pilgrims, embodying the spirit of Hussaini generosity and continuing its work until the final visitor departs Karbala. These efforts stand as a living testament to the greatness of the occasion and the hospitality of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him).
