Supreme Religious Authority: Explosions are but cowards' demeanor, and security forces must tackle that professionally

September 15, 2017, in the second part of the Friday's Sermon held at the Imam Hussein Shrine, the representative of the Shia Muslim Supreme Religious Authority, and the preacher of the Friday's Sermon held in the holy city of Kerbela, His Eminence sayyid Ahmed Es-Safi said:

“Targeting the civilians with bombs is but an act of cowardly people; those who can never confront the Iraqi forces tend to use inhumane means to hurt the civilians. Therefore, the Iraqi forces must be cautious and deal with such situations very professionally.”

He added, “Our heartfelt condolences go to the families of the victims of the terrorist acts committed in the city of Dhi Qar, and we are praying for the casualties’ recovery.”

He also added that the enemy (ISIS) – after it was defeated by the Iraqi forces – is now seeking revenge on the civilians for their defeat.

He mentioned further that all security forces ought to shoulder responsibilities to protect all gatherings, such as schools, markets, religious processions, especially during the upcoming month of Muharram when millions of people come to the holy city of Kerbela on foot, for ISIS’ concern is to only murder as many innocent people as possible.
