On the first day of Muharram, the banner of Imam Hussein (Peace Be Upon Him) was raised in the Republic of Nigeria for the first time in history. The banner was given as a gift to the Nigerian delegates who visited the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine earlier this year. Sayyed Saad Ed-Deen El-Bena, Head of the Secretary General's Office of the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine states, that millions of Ahlul-Bait lovers in Zaria participated in the ceremony which coincided with the banner replacement ceremony in Kerbala.
