Warith International Cancer Institute, affiliated with the Health and Medical Education Authority at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, has announced another medical success after its surgical team treated a (19)-year-old woman diagnosed with tumors in both ovaries while preserving her chance of having children, reflecting the institute's comprehensive treatment approach.
Speaking to the official website, Head of the Surgery Department Dr. Rabie Hanna said, "Warith International Cancer Institute, affiliated with the Health and Medical Education Authority at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, has achieved another medical success after its surgical team treated a (19)-year-old woman who had tumors in both ovaries while preserving her chance of future pregnancy, reflecting the institute's integrated treatment approach."
He explained that "the patient visited the institute at the beginning of her married life. Following the necessary examinations, doctors discovered a large (20) cm tumor in the left ovary and another (5) cm tumor in the right ovary."
He added that "the medical team developed a carefully planned treatment strategy aimed at removing the tumors while preserving fertility whenever possible. The left ovary was completely removed due to the size and spread of the tumor, while the tumor in the right ovary was removed, preserving the healthy portion of the ovary."
He further stated that "the treatment plan achieved its objectives, as the patient gave birth to a child in less than a year after the first surgery, before returning to the institute to complete her treatment by undergoing the planned operation to remove the right ovary, in accordance with the established medical plan."
He stressed that "this success reflects Warith International Cancer Institute's commitment to providing advanced medical care that goes beyond treating the disease to preserving patients' quality of life and future, including protecting their ability to have children whenever the medical condition allows."
