Al-Sibtain University Limits Admissions to Raise Medical Education Standards

The Health and Medical Education Authority at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has affirmed that Al-Sibtain University of Medical Sciences' policy of admitting a limited number of students is a key pillar of its academic vision, aimed at preparing highly qualified medical and healthcare professionals with advanced scientific and practical competencies.

Speaking to the official website, the Authority's President, Dr. Haidar Al-Abadi, said, "The university focuses on the quality of education and training by admitting a limited number of students in each specialization, allowing for direct academic supervision and enhancing students' theoretical and clinical preparation."

He explained that "this policy contributes to graduating professionals capable of meeting the needs of the hospitals affiliated with the Health and Medical Education Authority, particularly as they pursue international accreditations, which require qualified personnel with advanced scientific knowledge and practical skills."

He added that "Al-Sibtain University of Medical Sciences' policy of admitting a limited number of students represents one of the fundamental pillars of its academic vision, with the goal of preparing medical and healthcare professionals who possess a high level of scientific and practical competence."

He further noted that "the university has introduced specialized programs needed by the Iraqi labor market, including medical rehabilitation, occupational therapy, and speech therapy, with the aim of addressing shortages in these fields." He called on students "to pursue these specializations, which are witnessing growing demand," stressing that "investing in quality education and preparing distinguished graduates remains a top priority for the Authority in advancing the healthcare and education sectors."

It is worth noting that Al-Sibtain University of Medical Sciences, affiliated with the Health and Medical Education Authority at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, follows an academic model based on admitting a limited number of students across its programs to provide a more specialized educational and training environment. This approach aims to enhance graduate competency in line with academic and international accreditation standards, as well as the needs of Iraq's healthcare institutions. The university also continues to introduce specialized programs, including medical rehabilitation, occupational therapy, and speech therapy, to help meet labor market demands and improve the quality of healthcare services.
