Complex Adrenal Tumor Successfully Removed in Record Time

Khadija Alkubra Hospital, affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, has announced a new specialized medical achievement after successfully performing a delicate and complex procedure to remove an active tumor from a patient's left adrenal gland using laparoscopic surgery in record time.

Speaking to the official website, consultant urological and laparoscopic surgeon Dr. Riyadh Rashid Tu'mah said that "Khadija Alkubra Hospital, affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, achieved a new specialized medical milestone by performing a delicate and complex operation to remove an active tumor from a patient's left adrenal gland using laparoscopic surgery in a record time of no more than (30) minutes, without the need for major open surgery."

He explained that "the uniqueness of this procedure lies in the fact that the tumor was functional and secreted adrenaline, making it one of the tumors that requires exceptional precision and extreme caution during medical treatment."

He added that "this is a specialized and complex procedure requiring a highly skilled surgical team and an anesthesia team capable of managing the accompanying physiological changes." He noted that "the operation was performed entirely through laparoscopic surgery and was completed in approximately (30) minutes, after which the patient was transferred from the operating room to the recovery ward in good and stable condition."

This medical achievement reflects the continued support and attention the General Secretariat of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine provides to the healthcare sector as part of the comprehensive strategy implemented by Khadija Alkubra Hospital to serve the community by providing the latest global medical technologies and attracting highly qualified surgical specialists, helping reduce the burden on citizens while delivering advanced medical care within Iraq.
