The head of the Health and Medical Education Authority of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has confirmed that both autologous and allogeneic bone marrow transplant procedures for children, particularly those with cancer, are available completely free of charge within the authority’s medical institutions.
Speaking to the official website, the head of the authority, Dr. Haider Al-Abadi, said that "autologous and allogeneic bone marrow transplant procedures for children, particularly those with cancer, are available completely free of charge within the authority’s medical institutions, without the need to travel outside Iraq."
He explained that "this specialized service has been provided since the first day of operation of the authority’s affiliated centers and hospitals, as part of the vision of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine to offer the latest medical and therapeutic services to citizens, particularly children suffering from serious illnesses."
He stressed that "bone marrow transplant procedures will remain available free of charge to every Iraqi child as part of the humanitarian and national commitment adopted by the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine in supporting the healthcare sector and easing the burden on patients and their families by providing treatment inside Iraq in accordance with the highest medical standards, eliminating the need to travel abroad and the financial costs and burdensome procedures associated with it."
