Al-Thaqalayn Oncology Hospital, affiliated with the Health and Medical Education Authority at Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, announced statistics regarding the medical and treatment services it provided over the past two years.
In a statement obtained by the official website, the hospital said that “Al-Thaqalayn Oncology Hospital in Basra Governorate, affiliated with the Health and Medical Education Authority at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, announced statistics on the medical and treatment services it provided during the past two years,” noting that “the hospital delivered treatment services to more than (15) thousand patients, while outpatient clinics recorded more than (72) thousand visits.”
The statement explained that “within a short period, the hospital succeeded in providing advanced treatment services that contributed to reducing the need for patients to travel outside Iraq by offering free treatment for various age groups using the latest internationally approved medical technologies.”
It added that “among the hospital’s most prominent services are delicate brain and neurosurgery tumor operations performed using the first neuronavigation device of its kind in Basra Governorate, in addition to the Intraoperative Monitoring (IOM) system, which contributed to making surgeries more precise and safer.”
The statement noted that “the hospital also provides brachytherapy (internal radiation therapy) used in treating several tumors, particularly gynecological cancers, in addition to adopting advanced precise radiotherapy technologies such as (SGRT) and (SBRT), which are considered among the latest treatment technologies used in Iraq.”
It further pointed out that “the hospital is distinguished by providing radioactive iodine therapy with advanced therapeutic doses, in addition to targeted lutetium therapy for certain advanced cancer cases, within integrated services aimed at providing the best possible care for patients.”
According to the statement, “this active role has made Al-Thaqalayn Hospital one of the medical institutions to which patients are referred by the Ministry of Health instead of being sent abroad for treatment.”
Al-Thaqalayn Oncology Hospital is considered one of the specialized medical projects affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine. It works to provide advanced treatment services for cancer patients inside Iraq through the latest medical devices and technologies under the supervision of specialized medical and nursing staff, as part of efforts aimed at developing the healthcare sector and reducing the need for patients to travel abroad for treatment.
