Al-Thaqalain Oncology Hospital in Basra Governorate, affiliated with the Health and Medical Education Authority of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, has announced the start of implementing a treatment protocol for cervical cancer using one of the latest medical technologies. The step comes as part of ongoing efforts to advance specialized services for cancer patients.
Dr. Fatima Ahmed Fattah, Director of the Radiation Department at the hospital, said in a statement to the official website that “the specialized medical teams at Al-Thaqalain Oncology Hospital in Basra Governorate, affiliated with the Health and Medical Education Authority of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, have already begun implementing a treatment protocol for cervical cancer tumors through the use of close-range radiation guided by magnetic resonance imaging.”
She explained that “the use of this modern technology represents a qualitative leap in treatment accuracy, as it allows specialized teams to diagnose the tumor with very high precision. This, in turn, enables them to preserve the tissues surrounding the tumor without causing any additional side effects.”
This achievement comes as part of the continued efforts of Al-Thaqalain Oncology Hospital in Basra Governorate, affiliated with the Health and Medical Education Authority of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, to strengthen healthcare and medical services by introducing the latest equipment and technologies, enabling the institution to provide the best possible healthcare services to citizens.
