The General Secretariat of the Al-Askari Holy Shrine marked the painful anniversary of the bombing of the two minarets of the shrine of the Two Imams, Ali Al-Hadi and Al-Askari (peace be upon them), in Samarra. The attack took place on the 27th of Jumada al-Awwal 1428 AH, and the commemoration was held in a manner befitting the gravity of the event and its profound impact on the Islamic collective conscience.
The ceremony was attended by a group of scholars from the Najaf Seminary, along with delegations from the holy shrines and revered sites, as well as representatives of official institutions, tribal leaders, and members of the local community.
The program included speeches reviewing the magnitude of the crime and its effects on the faithful, highlighting the role of the Supreme Religious Authority in extinguishing the flames of discord and safeguarding social unity. The event also featured poetic recitations expressing the sorrow of the tragedy, while the Samarra Heritage Center presented a short documentary showcasing archival footage that documented the attack and its deep impact on Iraqi sentiment.
