The Secretary-General of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, Hassan Rashid Jawad Al-Abayaji, emphasized the urgent need to keep children away from social media platforms, particularly virtual networks that can influence and redirect their behavior in harmful ways.
His remarks came during the opening of the 7th Karbala International Children’s Book Fair, organized by the Shrine’s Department of Childhood Care and Development in the area between the two holy shrines.
Al-Abayaji stated, “These exhibitions play a significant role in shaping and nurturing children’s culture, guiding them in the right direction according to the principles of education, religious and moral values, and the path of Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them), as well as the upright path of humanity.”
He reaffirmed the necessity of protecting children from excessive exposure to virtual social platforms that can alter their conduct.
This year’s fair features the participation of more than 47 publishing houses from ten countries, including Iraq, Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Iran. The event underscores the Holy Shrine’s ongoing efforts to strengthen children’s cultural awareness and promote reading.
Now an annual event, the Karbala International Children’s Book Fair has become both an educational and recreational platform that blends creativity with awareness, contributing to the development of a generation deeply connected to its identity and authentic values.
