The Strategic Projects Department of the General Secretariat of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine is pressing ahead with construction of the Al-Warith Complex in Karbala, a major initiative designed to provide shelter, care, and community rehabilitation for individuals lacking support. The project is part of the shrine’s broader service programs aimed at supporting society and creating an integrated environment for beneficiaries.
Engineer Mohammed Diaa Mohammed, Head of the Strategic Projects Department, stated that “the department continues to make steady progress on the Al-Warith Complex, with our teams achieving advanced completion rates.”
He explained that current work includes secondary ceiling installations and gypsum board, alongside electrical wiring for system networks, ceramic tiling in sanitation facilities, filling porcelain joints, and advancing the cooling system, including condensation and pipe extensions. Wooden doors for the floors are also being installed.
The project covers a land area of 6,552 m² with a total built-up space of 17,500 m², spread over six floors. It will feature a prayer hall, dormitories, computer labs, a central dining hall, classrooms, workshops, sports fields, and recreational areas, forming a comprehensive model for community care and rehabilitation.
Mohammed emphasized that “this is one of the most significant service projects, designed according to the latest standards for complexes that accommodate individuals in need of care.”
The Al-Warith Complex aims to provide a safe and fully equipped environment for its residents, reflecting the ongoing commitment of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine to advancing community and service-oriented initiatives.
