As the Arbaeen pilgrimage reaches its peak and the countdown begins to the 20th of Safar, the General Secretariat of the Holy Shrine of Imam Ali, through all its staff across various departments, numbering over 10,000 servants supported by an additional 4,000 volunteers, continues to work tirelessly to provide a wide range of services. This scene reflects the highest expressions of generosity and service for the Arbaeen pilgrims coming to Najaf al-Ashraf, home to the shrine of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib.
Farouq Karim, servant and manager of Al-Karrar Rest Station, told the News Center that the shrine has opened a new hospitality point south of Najaf to accommodate the growing number of visitors. “The site provides daily services by distributing main meals during three periods, starting with breakfast in the early morning, followed by lunch and then dinner, in addition to supplementary meals,” he said. “The total number of meals served reaches around 6,000 daily. The rest station has been providing services to pilgrims in the annual million-strong march for the past ten years.”
The service began on the 9th of Safar and will continue until the end of the blessed pilgrimage, meeting the needs of pilgrims arriving from the southern route towards the shrine of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) before continuing their walk to the holy city of Karbala. Between the main meals, light refreshments such as cake, juice, and cold water are also distributed, especially as the pilgrimage reaches its busiest days.
