The Educational Coordination and Rehabilitation Department at the Imam Hussain Shrine has stated the number of autistic children enrolled in recovery programs held by the Autism institutes, affiliated with the Imam Hussain Shrine, across Iraq.
Assistant director of the department Ali EsSultani said, “Approximately 600 autistic children, from most of the Iraqi cities, have been enrolled in the Autism institutes in 2018.”
EsSultani added that the institutes succeeded in rehabilitating many autistic children, noting that the last group of autistic children, ages 3 and up, rehabilitated in 2018 is 80 children.
He said further the institutes follow academic methods of treating autism spectrum disorder used in most of the international universities.
