Historic Media Participation in Arbaeen Pilgrimage

As part of extensive efforts to ensure full media coverage of this year’s Arbaeen pilgrimage, the Media Department of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine announced record numbers in both media participation and the services provided to journalists and press delegations, during the period from the 5th to the 20th of Safar.

Abbas Al-Khafaji, head of the department, stated: “The media coverage of this year’s Arbaeen pilgrimage, which spanned from the 5th to the 20th of Safar, witnessed an unprecedented level of participation.”

He explained that “the number of participating journalists reached around 2,000, while 50 fixed and mobile SNG broadcasting units were deployed around the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine and in the pilgrims’ cities.” He added that “the number of media institutions covering the event exceeded 600, including satellite channels, news agencies, and international newspapers representing more than 10 countries, in addition to content creators focused on purposeful media.”

Al-Khafaji noted that “the Media Department provided a wide range of services to journalists, including three daily meals, accommodation, and designated areas for broadcasting vehicles in the Courtyard of Lady Zainab (peace be upon her). Additional facilities included platforms for conducting press interviews, internet access, shading installations on the shrine’s rooftop, the issuance of a unified entry badge for both holy shrines, as well as various logistical support services.”

Through these efforts, the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine seeks to create a comprehensive environment that meets the needs of media delegations, ensuring accurate coverage of the Arbaeen pilgrimage and conveying its reality to audiences worldwide.
