Anniversary of edict of Collective Jihad against ISIS

The official website of Imam Hussein Holy Shrine has commemorated the anniversary of the religious edict of Collective Jihad (holy war) against ISIS, which was issued by the Shia Muslim Supreme Religious Authority, his Eminence, sayyid Ali El-Husseini Es-Sistani on 13 June 2014.

The Collective Jihad was a calling for taking-up arms against ISIS; whoever was able to fight had to go to the battlefield until the number of men would be enough to stop ISIS’ attacks and expel them out of the country.

The Collective Jihad edict was declared by the representative of the Shia Muslim Supreme Religious Authority sheikh Addul-Mehdi El-Kerbela’e on a Friday’s Sermon. During the sermon, he said that protecting the country was everyone’s responsibility, especially when ISIS was targeting everyone, regardless of one’s religion or religious denomination.

He added that protecting the citizens and the holy shrines was everyone's religious and national duty.
