First and Third Place: Quran Reciters from Imam Hussain Holy Shrine Secure Top Ranks at 16th National Elite Competition

The Holy Quran House at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine achieved top rankings in the 16th National Elite Competition for Quran Memorization and Recitation. Organised by the National Center for Quranic Sciences in the capital, Baghdad, the event featured 30 elite reciters from various governorates.

In a statement to the Official Site, Wisam Nazir Al-Delfi, head of the Quranic Media Center, said that the Holy Quran House's participation came as part of its ongoing efforts to prepare and qualify reciters for Quranic competitions. He highlighted that the House's reciters secured top spots in the memorization category, with reciter Mahdi Ahmed Naji winning first place, while reciter Haidar Sharqi Thamer claimed third place.

Al-Delfi added that the competition spanned three days and followed a competitive three-stage system. The initial stage featured dozens of contestants from various governorates, leading to six finalists—all representing the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine—who competed in the final round held on Monday, October 5, 2026.

He explained that securing these high positions is the fruit of the Quranic programs and training courses organized by the Holy Quran House, alongside continuous supervision by educational staff to prepare reciters for national and international Quranic competitions.

The Holy Quran House at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine continues to advance its educational and training programs aimed at preparing and qualifying reciters for Quranic gatherings, contributing to enhancing their presence and achieving distinguished results in local and international competitions.
