Engineering and technical crews in the Expansion Projects Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine have commenced construction on the first building of the Medical Staff Housing Project, aimed at supporting the health sector and providing a suitable residential environment for medical and nursing personnel.
In a statement obtained by the official website, the department stated that "the project covers a total area of 14 donums and includes the construction of 8 residential buildings, each standing 8 stories high, with a total built-up area reaching 60,800 square meters."
It added that "the structural design of the project adheres to modern standards, where the construction footprint on the site does not exceed 40%, while the remaining area is dedicated to services and green spaces, accounting for no less than 25% of the project's total area."
The department further clarified that "ongoing work at the site of the first building includes constructing and reinforcing fundamental piles, pouring lean concrete, and curing the concrete slab with water spraying," noting that "execution phases are subject to continuous technical and engineering supervision to ensure accurate implementation and adherence to required specifications."
It pointed out that "specialized crews are preparing to move to the next phase, which involves pouring the foundations in preparation for continuing construction work and progressing through the remaining floors, alongside ongoing work in subsequent phases of the project."
The Medical Staff Housing Project is part of the initiatives undertaken by the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine to provide an appropriate living environment for medical and nursing staff and support their stability, contributing to the enhancement of health service levels across affiliated institutions and Karbala Governorate as a whole.
