Female students at the College of Pharmacy at Al-Zahraa University for Women, affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, took the OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) for fifth-stage students following the completion of an intensive clinical training program held during the summer break, aimed at enhancing practical skills and elevating the professional readiness of the students.
The Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Noor Hatef Al-Dabbagh, said in an interview with the (Official Website) that "the OSCE exam represents one of the modern assessment methods for clinical skills, as it measures the students' ability to employ their scientific knowledge in handling medical cases and making appropriate treatment decisions, as well as evaluating communication skills and clinical reasoning."
She added that "practical training constitutes an essential pillar in preparing pharmacists equipped with the necessary competence to meet the demands of professional practice," noting that the training program contributed to strengthening the applied aspect among the students and preparing them to undergo clinical evaluations.
The examination included moving between a number of assessment stations that simulate real-world clinical scenarios, during which the students' skills were evaluated in applying scientific knowledge, dealing with medical cases, communicating with patients, and making suitable decisions, thereby contributing to enhancing their clinical competence and improving the quality of pharmaceutical care.
