The Secretary-General of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, Mr. Hassan Rashid Jawad Al-Abaychi, emphasized that work is underway to advance the health sector and turn Holy Karbala into a city of healing, as described by the representative of the Supreme Religious Authority. He noted that this expansion and development in the medical field stems directly from this vision. He made these remarks during his speech at the inauguration of the third expansion of the Lady Khadija Al-Kubra (peace be upon her) Specialized Hospital for Women, held in the presence of the representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalai.
The Secretary-General of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine stated that "the religious institution and the religious authority must care for and look after the human being. Therefore, there is expansion and development in the medical field based on this vision of honoring humanity. This parental care, prioritized by the representative of the Supreme Religious Authority and the legal guardian, ranks among the top services provided to people, especially low-income earners and needy families."
He explained that "what was reviewed during this occasion regarding the new medical departments, alongside the presentation delivered by the staff concerning major and complex surgical interventions, brings joy to hearts and reinforces hope in the capacities and capabilities of Iraqi medical teams to perform intricate surgeries and elevate the healthcare sector."
He added that "hope is placed upon the Secretariat-General of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, in cooperation with the city's health departments and the Ministry of Health, to contribute to transforming Karbala into a city of healing, in line with the vision presented by the legal guardian of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine."
He pointed out that "this hope relies on the efforts, initiatives, and qualitative improvement in the standard of medical service delivery. The opening of new departments came as a result of the hospital's capacity to manage existing departments efficiently—a fact that simultaneously confirms the feasibility of expanding and establishing even more advanced units. We congratulate them on this effort, celebrate the launch of these new departments, and wish them continued progress, advancement, and success."
