At a Depth of 15 Meters Underground: Expansion Projects Department at Imam Hussain Holy Shrine Completes Imam Hussain Basement Covering 5,340 m²

The Expansion Projects Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced the completion of the Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) basement, located at a depth of 15 meters underneath the Al-Aqeelah Zainab (peace be upon her) Courtyard, as part of the expansion projects undertaken by the Holy Shrine to serve pilgrims.

In a statement received by the official website, the department stated that "the Expansion Projects Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has completed the Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) basement, located at a depth of 15 meters below the Al-Aqeelah Zainab (peace be upon her) Courtyard, with a total area of 5,340 square meters, as part of the expansion projects implemented by the Holy Shrine to serve pilgrims."

It explained that "the crews completed the basement works according to distinctive technical and architectural specifications, tailored to the nature of the project and its location within the Al-Aqeelah Zainab (peace be upon her) Courtyard."

It added that "the basement features floors and walls clad in the finest types of marble, as well as columns and ceilings decorated with mirror work, in line with the architectural character that befits the stature of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him)."

It noted that "the project is not limited to the structural aspect, but comes as part of the efforts of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine to provide a suitable environment for pilgrims by creating spaces prepared for rest and offering services to them."

The completion of the basement comes within the vision of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine to develop infrastructure and continue implementing expansion projects, contributing to providing additional spaces and services for pilgrims and elevating the level of services offered to them.
