The Health and Medical Education Authority at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced the mobilization of its healthcare efforts through the Health Disaster Management Center by launching medical camps across the holy city of Karbala in accordance with the standards of fully integrated digital medical camps. Equipped with the latest artificial intelligence technologies, the camps aim to provide advanced healthcare services to pilgrims arriving to commemorate the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him).
Speaking to the official website, Director of the Health Disaster Management Center, Dr. Mahdi Razawi, said, “The medical camp was launched under the direction of the Representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalaei, and with the follow-up of the Secretary-General, Hassan Rashid Jawad Al-Abayji. It is the first of its kind in the world, given the advanced medical devices and sophisticated digital technologies it incorporates, which rely on artificial intelligence to support diagnostic and treatment processes.”
He added that “the medical camp represents a significant advancement in the healthcare services provided to pilgrims, as it utilizes intelligent systems that help accelerate the diagnosis of medical conditions and assist medical personnel in making treatment decisions, thereby enhancing the quality of healthcare and improving response times to emergency cases.”
He explained that “the center has formed specialized medical teams that include paramedics trained to respond rapidly to cardiac arrest cases, teams designated to manage mass casualty incidents, as well as first aid teams, ensuring prompt medical intervention and the provision of necessary care to pilgrims around the clock.”
He pointed out that “the camp includes a fully integrated medical laboratory, in addition to being equipped with the latest medical devices and equipment. It is staffed by highly qualified medical and nursing personnel, alongside specialists with advanced expertise in implementing approved medical protocols for dealing with various emergency cases.”
He affirmed that “this initiative is part of the comprehensive healthcare plan implemented by the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine during the Arbaeen pilgrimage, with the aim of employing the latest medical and digital technologies in the service of pilgrims and enhancing the efficiency of emergency response, thereby improving the quality of healthcare services provided to the millions of visitors arriving in the holy city of Karbala.”
The Imam Hussain Holy Shrine continues to implement its comprehensive plan for the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) by mobilizing all of its service, medical, engineering, organizational, and media departments and institutions, while deploying its human and logistical resources across the various routes leading to the holy city of Karbala and border crossings. The objective is to provide the best possible services for pilgrims arriving from within Iraq and abroad, facilitating the performance of the pilgrimage ceremonies and the commemoration of this major annual occasion in a safe and well-organized environment.
