The Maintenance Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced the launch of a large-scale service campaign to supply Hussaini processions and the pilgrims of Imam Hussain (PBUH) with ice and drinking water in the provinces of Dhi Qar and Al-Muthanna, marking the first time the initiative has been carried out beyond the borders of Karbala Province.
Speaking to the official website, the Head of the Department, Engineer Abdul Hassan Mohammed, said, "This initiative was launched under the directives of the Representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalaei, and the Secretary-General of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, Hassan Rashid Jawad Al-Abayji, as part of efforts to support service processions and meet the needs of pilgrims walking toward the holy city of Karbala."
He explained that "the Maintenance Department has begun implementing a large-scale service campaign to provide Hussaini processions and the pilgrims of Imam Hussain (PBUH) with ice and (RO) drinking water in the provinces of Dhi Qar and Al-Muthanna, marking the first time the campaign has extended beyond Karbala Province."
He added that "the campaign began in the Al-Batha District of Dhi Qar Province and extended through Al-Huwair, Al-Darraji, Al-Khidhir District, Samawah city center, and Al-Rumaitha District. It included logistical support and the provision of drinking water and ice to Hussaini processions along the pilgrims' routes." He noted that "the campaign distributed more than (1,500) blocks of ice and (500) bags of crystal ice, in addition to transporting and distributing (100) tons of (RO) water using (4) specialized tanker trucks, each with a capacity of (25) tons."
The initiative is part of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine's ongoing efforts to expand its humanitarian and logistical services beyond Karbala Province and reach the areas through which Arbaeen pilgrims travel, helping provide greater comfort and support for both service processions and pilgrims during the blessed pilgrimage.
