To commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), the African Activities Division of the Religious Affairs Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine organized a series of Ashura mourning gatherings across various parts of Nigeria, with broad participation from mourners.
Speaking to the official website, the head of the African Activities Division, Sheikh Abdul Ghaffar Al-Maliki, said that "the African Activities Division of the Religious Affairs Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine organized a series of mourning gatherings across different parts of Nigeria, with broad participation from mourners, to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him)."
He explained that "these Husayni mourning gatherings, held in multiple regions of Nigeria, aimed to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and highlight the objectives, values, and noble principles for which he rose and sacrificed."
He added that "the program placed significant emphasis on explaining these principles and values to preserve and reinforce them, while highlighting how the Imam became a role model and symbol of sacrifice, selflessness, standing for truth, and defending it throughout Islamic history."
He continued that "the events witnessed strong attendance and engagement from local communities across different areas, where the historical legacy and intellectual impact of the blessed Husayni revolution were presented, along with ways to draw lessons and inspiration from it in the present day."
The Religious Affairs Department, through its African Activities Division at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, continues to organize such intellectual and religious activities across the African continent to strengthen religious awareness and promote the principles of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) and their humanitarian values.
