The Order Maintenance Department of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced the completion of all security and organizational preparations for the commemoration of the tenth of Muharram and the Tuwairij Run mourning procession. The preparations are part of an extensive plan developed by the department in coordination with supporting authorities to secure the movement of visitors and mourners and manage the millions of participants expected in Holy Karbala during the occasion.
Speaking to the official website, the head of the department, Engineer Rasool Abbas Fadhala, said that "the Order Maintenance Department of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has completed all security and organizational preparations for the commemoration of the tenth of Muharram and the Tuwairij Run mourning procession, as part of a comprehensive plan prepared in coordination with supporting authorities to secure the movement of visitors and mourners and manage the millions of participants expected in Holy Karbala during this occasion."
He explained that "the department has developed a fully integrated security and organizational plan that includes a range of field and technological measures aimed at regulating the movement of visitors and mourners, ensuring the smooth flow of entry and exit through designated routes, and enhancing safety and security measures along the entire procession route."
He added that "our surveillance system includes more than (2400) cameras distributed across all entrances and exits of the Old City. The system operates through advanced technology that relies on artificial intelligence for facial recognition and real-time data analysis. It is connected to central command and monitoring rooms that enable around-the-clock observation of crowd movement, contributing to rapid response to any emergency while supporting organizational and security efforts."
He noted that "the department has completed the deployment of its field units and distributed them across vital locations and key points along the Tuwairij Run route, in addition to preparing communication systems and electronic monitoring networks in line with the expected scale of attendance during the tenth of Muharram ceremonies."
The Imam Hussain Holy Shrine annually implements comprehensive security, service, and organizational plans in cooperation with relevant authorities to accommodate the millions of visitors arriving in Holy Karbala to commemorate Ashura and participate in the Tuwairij Run, while providing the best possible services to ensure their rituals are performed safely and smoothly.
