Imam Zain Al-Abideen Hospital, affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, announced the successful completion of a delicate surgical procedure to remove a deep brain tumor using the latest advanced surgical technologies.
In a statement obtained by the official website, the hospital said that “Imam Zain Al-Abideen Hospital, affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, successfully performed a delicate surgical operation to remove a deep brain tumor located at the level of the Corpus Callosum with extension into the depth of the brain, using the latest advanced surgical technologies.”
The statement explained that “the operation is considered among the highly precise neurosurgical procedures due to the sensitivity of the tumor’s location and the complexity of accessing it, which requires advanced expertise and modern technologies to ensure patient safety and preserve vital neurological functions.”
It added that “the patient had been preparing to travel abroad in search of treatment opportunities, but the advanced medical capabilities and accumulated expertise within the hospital contributed to successfully performing the surgery inside Iraq.”
The statement continued that “the operation was conducted under the supervision of brain and spine surgery specialist Dr. Youssef Al-Hatim, while surgical Navigation technology played a key role in safely reaching the tumor site and achieving the highest possible level of safe removal,” noting that “the anesthesia team led by Dr. Bassem Youssef contributed effectively to managing the procedure, which lasted nearly (5) continuous hours.”
It is worth noting that hospitals affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine continue to perform highly specialized surgeries inside Iraq by relying on the latest medical equipment and advanced medical staff, contributing to reducing the need for patients to travel abroad for treatment.
