Orphan Schools Complex in Dhi Qar Reaches 68% Completion

The Engineering and Technical Projects Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced the continuation of work on the Orphan Schools Complex project in Dhi Qar Governorate, southern Iraq, as part of its humanitarian and development efforts aimed at supporting this group and providing an integrated educational and developmental environment.

The head of southern projects in the department, engineer Safwan Al-Safi, stated in an interview with the official website that “the Engineering and Technical Projects Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine continues work on the Orphan Schools Complex project in Dhi Qar Governorate, southern Iraq, within its humanitarian and development efforts aimed at supporting this group and providing a comprehensive educational and developmental environment.”

He explained that “the engineering and technical teams have achieved tangible progress in the project, with the completion rate of the first phase reaching (68%),” noting that “work is progressing at an increasing pace to complete this facility, which is being constructed over a total area estimated at (31,000) m².”

He added that “the project includes (5) multi-story schools, in addition to a building designated for kindergarten, as well as service and administrative buildings, along with a large multi-purpose hall.”

He pointed out that “the capacity of each school within the complex exceeds (1,100) students, enabling it to provide free education for orphans from kindergarten through to the end of the preparatory stage.”

He continued that “the complex has been equipped with the latest technological systems, including central cooling, smart surveillance cameras, and internet service, in addition to the use of high-quality construction materials for the facades such as marble, (GRC), and Karbala tile,” noting that “the interior designs rely on internationally sourced materials for paints and flooring, ensuring a comfortable and safe educational environment that combines digital technologies with modern educational methods.”

This achievement underscores the commitment of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, through its Engineering and Technical Projects Department, to adopting specialized projects that serve the Iraqi citizen, particularly orphans, by providing a modern, exemplary educational environment that contributes to building the future of younger generations in accordance with the highest humanitarian and service standards.
