Foreign-Language Pilgrimage Books Now Available at Imam Hussain Holy Shrine Libraries

For the first time, the libraries of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine are offering religious and cultural publications in multiple foreign languages, as part of a pioneering initiative by the International Media Center of the shrine’s Media Department. Now in its third year, the project is designed to serve international pilgrims by providing content in their native languages.

Mr. Haidar Al-Mangooshi, head of the International Media Center, explained: “The libraries within the Holy Shrine now include publications in several languages, such as English, French, Urdu, and Turkish. These cover essential religious texts including the Ziyarat of the Holy Imams and well-known supplications like Du’a Kumayl, Du’a Tawassul, and Ziyarat Al-Yasin, as well as the Ziyarat of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) and Aba Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him).”

He highlighted that this initiative is the first of its kind among holy shrines, aimed at making religious knowledge more accessible to non-Arabic-speaking visitors. “We noticed that many foreign pilgrims spend long hours in the courtyard without fully understanding the rituals or the etiquette of pilgrimage. These translated materials are intended to enrich their experience and strengthen their spiritual connection,” Al-Mangooshi said.

The publications not only provide authentic Ziyarat texts and supplications but also introduce readers to the lives and virtues of the Infallible Imams (peace be upon them). “This initiative transforms the pilgrimage into a deeper spiritual journey that goes beyond rituals to foster true understanding,” he added.

Looking ahead, Al-Mangooshi revealed plans to publish dedicated Ziyarat texts and biographies for all fourteen Infallible Imams. The center will also continue producing high-quality publications in multiple languages, following earlier works such as The Guide to Iraq’s Shrines and The Holy Sites in the Land of Paradise, both already published in Arabic and English.

“These efforts are dedicated to the Master of Martyrs, Imam Hussain (peace be upon him),” Al-Mangooshi emphasized, “and they reflect our ongoing commitment to providing international pilgrims with cultural and media services worthy of the shrine’s sacred status.”
