Al-Abbas Combat Division bids farewell the first convoys of Hajj pilgrims

The fighters of the al-Abbas Combat Division, who were assigned to secure the Nkhayb-Arar Road lead to the Saudi border,  have bid farewell to the first convoys of pilgrims to Hajj.

The fighters escorted the pilgrims, coming from the governorates of Muthanna, Maysan and Kirkuk, to a distance of more than 80 km, starting from the area of Al-Faj until al-Nukhayb.

Meanwhile, commander of the Middle Euphrates Operations Major General Qais Khalaf al-Muhammadawi praised the role of the Abbas Combat Division in preserving the security of the holy province of Karbala, starting with the first threats to the province until this moment.

“The brave division’s duty to secure and protect the pilgrims’ convoys is highly commended and is part of its heroic and courageous positions to maintain security and stability in the region in which it is located,” added Muhammadawi. It is to note that the leadership of the al-Abbas Combat Division announced that it is implementing a plan to secure the road between Iraq and Saudi Arabia (Nukhayb - 'Ar'ar) through three brigades, including an armored brigade, after receiving orders from the Middle Euphrates Operations Command in a meeting last month at the division headquarters.
