Es-Seystani: State officials' performance to be assessed, national product support funds to be observed

Sep 11, 2015. Second part of the Friday's Sermon held at the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine, the representative of the Islamic Supreme Religious Authority, and the preacher of the Friday's Sermon in Kerbala, His Eminence, sheikh Abdul-Mehdi El-Kerbala’e called for assessing the performance of the state officials, based on profession and objectivity, in addition to replacing the unqualified with qualified ones. His eminence also called for adopting strict procedures in terms of observing the $4 billion granted to the agricultural, industrial, and real estate banks, in addition to the housing funds.

He also mentioned that the resolution recently passed on reducing the state officials’ salaries is a great promising step towards reformation that the Iraqi people has been demanding. It is also another promising step to achieve social equity between the state officials and the low class people.

He then called for cracking down the corruptors and replacing the unqualified officials with qualified ones based on integrity, profession, objectivity and the public interest of Iraqi.

His Eminence shed light on the education issue nowadays, saying:

International statistics have proven that illiteracy rate in Iraq has been increasingly growing, especially the females, and that indicates a futuristic serious issue on building Iraqi people educationally and scientifically. Therefore, it is obligatory to take serious procedures to apply the compulsory education system in Iraq, in addition to urging parents to send their children to school, through information programs. The educational process can be constituted by the Ministry of Education, school management, teaching staff, and parents. In addition, teaching means have changed, and therefore the concerned entities should adopt advanced means of teaching in order to enhance the students. Teachers should pay more attention to the educational process because the wars and crises that Iraq has been through are extraordinary situations, and that negatively reflected on children’s psychology. The educational and teaching process we are calling for must include schools and colleges, and it is necessary to make a comprehensive review to this process and reform it through taking care of the constituents of education.
