The office of the Shia Muslim Supreme Religious Authority sayyid Ali El-Husseini Es-Sistani is expecting to see the moon crescent of the first day of the month of Muharram at dusk on Thi El-Hujjah month 29, 1438 A.H., corresponding to September 21, 2017.
Imam Hussein Shrine, on the other hand, has completed the preparations to receive the month of Muharram when millions of pilgrims gather in the holy city of Kerbela to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (Peace Be Upon Him).
