Imam Hussain Shrine organizes blood donation campaign for children with cancer

Elhewra Zaineb Society of the Imam Hussain Shrine has organized a blood donation campaign for the children afflicted with cancer in the city of Basrah in Southern Iraq.

Salah Bahar – Society’s supervisor – said, “This humanitarian campaign has come to support children with cancer and strengthen social ties with people after the rate of cancer has increased in the city.”

Bahar also said that a medical detachment – in cooperation with the Department of Education and the Blood Donation Center of Basrah – was sent the Department of Education where a great number of the employees, as well as other people from outside of the department, donated blood.

The city of Basrah has recorded an increasing rate of cancer cases due to the environmental pollution caused by petroleum products manufacturing and the remnants of war.
