Reason Behind Wearing Black During Muharram

Ever since the death of Imam Hussein along with this family members and companions (Peace Be Upon Them), Shi'ite s around the world commemorate the tragedy of Kerbala by wearing black clothes during the month of Muharram. For this reason, the color black became a ritual and a representation of sadness and grief as mention by Ahlul-Bait. Globally speaking, when the month of Muharram arrives, Shi'ite Muslims cover the walls inside and outside their houses, Mosques, Centers, offices, and even government buildings with black cloth to express their grief and sorrow towards the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (Peace Be Upon Him).
