Architectural Committee Of Imam Hussein Holy Shrine Initiates El-Eqila Sanctuary

The Secretariat General of the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine continues the consumption of land surrounding the Shrine of Imam Hussein (Peace Be Upon Him) for the establishment of El-Eqila Zaynab sanctuary. For this reason, several buildings belonging to the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine were destructed. Ebid El-Wahid El-Beer, member of the Real Estate Acquisition Committee states that the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine has bought 98% of the building surrounding the Holy Shrine with the motive of expansion. Some of the current expansion projects that are being established are the El-Mukhaiyem Sanctuary, Martyr's Street, El-Zaynabia nave and the Sanctuary of Imam Hussein (Peace Be Upon Him). The El-Eqila Sanctuary consists of four floors that contain elevators, service places for pilgrims, restrooms, massive library, religious school, and two museums, one for masterpieces and the other for expensive carpet. The service places are broken up into two floors with the approximated size of 15,000m2, 10,000m2 for the male and 5,000m2 for the female. By: Ibrahim El-Ouwainy Translated By: Ahmed Ali
