Es-Safy: ISIL Target All Iraqis' Holy Shrines, & They Must be Defeated

June 20, 2014. Second part of the Friday Sermon, held in the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine. His Eminence, Sayed Ahmed Es-Safy, representative of the Islamic Supreme Religious Authority and preacher of the Friday Sermon in Karbala, covered several points concerning the recent ruling of the Islamic Supreme Religious Authority on joining the Iraqi army to defeat the ISIL: Firstly. The recent ruling is a call for all Iraqi people of different religions to stand together against the ISIL; who aim at destroying all Iraqi cities and all the Holy Shrines in Iraq. Defeating ISIL will be done only through complying with the rules of the Iraqi army, not through forming dependent armed groups. Furthermore, through this call, the Islamic Supreme Religious Authority proves that it does not condone Sectarian discrimination by any means. Moreover, it is a call for the politicians to take the rights of the Iraqi people into serious consideration. Secondly, it is a call for all people to enlist through the recruitment offices according to the rules laid out by the Iraqi government. Also, through this call, the Islamic Supreme Religious Authority extends their gratitude to those who have complied with the recent ruling and demonstrated faithfulness in defending their country. Thirdly, the federal government has approved the results of the parliamentary elections. The new parliament is organizing a schedule to elect a new president of the parliament, a new prime minister, and a new president of Iraq. Fourthly, the recent uneasy situation occurring in Iraq means it is essential for the Iraqi people to carry out their responsibilities and duties. They must unite in order to ease the burden of the families that have been displaced; offering them everything they require to sustain them. This would include maintaining the current food prices in the markets where Iraqi people can easily support themselves during this crucial time. He concluded his speech with a prayer, "We pray to the Almighty Allah, to guiding all the people towards the best path, He is Allah, the Most Merciful of the merciful." Translated by: Mohammed Jasim
