Despite cold, wind & rain; pilgrims of the Fortieth pilgrimage continuing the walk of covenant & allegiance

In an extraordinary cold, windy and rainy weather yesterday, Tuesday 25-Dec-2012; pilgrims continued their historical walk until late night, those pilgrims coming from the North and South of Iraq to Kerbala holy city. The Fortieth pilgrimage ritual considered of the oldest Husseinian rituals, our ancestors have commemorated it; then it's been descended to us by them as a deposit to be maintained and insisted on in spite of repression, oppression massacring for ages and until now. As we met a pilgrim's name (Abbas) from Najaf city located 80km South-East of Kerbala city then he said to us, "Every year we come on foot for performing pilgrimage to Imam Hussein (p.b.u.h) as rejuvenating the covenant of loyalty and obedience to him, and also for emphasizing feeling of pledging allegiance to him (p.b.u.h), and serving pilgrims of Ahlulbait (p.b.u.t)". Another pilgrim we met whose name is (Ali) from Naserya city located 275km South Kerbala, he said, "I was with my family coming on foot to perform pilgrimage to Imam Hussein (p.b.u.h), and this is the annual ritual we inherited from our ancestors and we are persisting in it". Then he emphasized saying "We all sacrifice for Imam Hussein". By: Mohammed Jassim
