Aiming to harness the arts for rehabilitation and reform, the Youth Social Development and Rehabilitation Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, through its Arts and Theater Division, launched the "Theater Clinic" program for inmates at the Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Affairs in Holy Karbala Governorate, seeking to enhance psychological and social rehabilitation while promoting community reintegration opportunities for beneficiaries.
In an official statement obtained by the Official Website, the department noted that "the program encompasses a series of theatrical training sessions designed to develop communication and self-expression skills, build self-confidence, and uncover the latent talents and abilities of participants."
The department clarified that "the initial session focused on introducing the goals of the Theater Clinic and its role in fostering inmates' psychological and behavioral growth, helping them overcome past challenges and prepare for building a new future."
It added that "the session featured a variety of practical exercises, including focus and attention drills, role-playing, confidence and communication building, as well as breathing and vocal performance training, thereby contributing to the development of participants' mental and physical capacities while promoting positive behavior."
This initiative forms part of the efforts of the Secretariat General of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, through the Youth Social Development and Rehabilitation Department, to utilize the arts as a reformative tool that helps rebuild self-confidence among target groups, preparing them for an active and positive return to society.
