Supreme Religious Authority Representative: The People of Dhi Qar and Other Governorates Are Our Sons, and Our Slogan Is No Patient Should Be Left Without Receiving Their Entitled Medical Care

The representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sheikh Abdul-Mahdi Al-Karbalai, confirmed that Imam Hussain Holy Shrine places serving patients and providing medical care to them—especially in underprivileged areas—among its top priorities, with the working slogan being that no patient should be left without receiving their entitled medical care. This came during his reception of a delegation from the people of Dhi Qar.

Sheikh Abdul-Mahdi Al-Karbalai stated that "Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Al-Sistani looks upon everyone with paternal care, and we follow this approach; the representatives exert great efforts in caring for citizens, and this care is an extension of the Supreme Religious Authority's care."

He added that "the brothers at Safeer Al-Imam Al-Hussain (peace be upon him) Surgical Hospital, including doctors and other staff, spare no effort in serving citizens and patients—particularly in areas experiencing some degree of deprivation—by providing them with the necessary medical care, and these steps are also meant to support state institutions."

He explained that "what distinguishes these staffs is their advanced medical expertise, alongside a love for service, sincerity to Almighty Allah, and human treatment of patients, which is an important matter in providing healthcare," noting that "despite the hospital's small area, it is great in its giving and services."

He pointed out that "the people of Dhi Qar and other governorates are our sons, and there is no difference between one city and another, for all are citizens and sons of this country; however, vulnerable and underprivileged areas require greater care and special attention."

He stressed that "Imam Hussain Holy Shrine will continue to support districts and areas in need of greater healthcare, ensuring the non-interruption of medical services to them," noting that "this approach encompasses various health institutions affiliated with Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, each according to its specialization and capabilities."

Sheikh Al-Karbalai emphasized that "our slogan is that no patient should be left without receiving their entitled medical care, in terms of diagnosis and treatment, whether they require complex and specialized surgical operations or specialized medical services."

He continued that "Imam Hussain Holy Shrine is prepared to seek the help of advanced medical personnel, both Iraqi and foreign, to perform operations and treatments required by patients," noting that "medical service is not limited to what is available inside our hospitals; if some patients require treatment in hospitals outside Iraq, we are prepared to cooperate and cover the costs depending on the case, and the important thing is that medical care encompasses all patients."

The representative of the Supreme Religious Authority concluded by emphasizing that "serving and caring for patients is a humanitarian responsibility, and Imam Hussain Holy Shrine will continue working to provide the highest levels of medical care to citizens, especially the people of regions suffering from a shortage in health services."
