Over 834 Patients Treated: Al-Thaqalayn Hospital of Imam Hussain Holy Shrine Announces 12,500 Therapeutic Sessions Provided Under Medical Evacuation Program

Al-Thaqalayn Cancer Hospital, affiliated with the Health and Medical Education Authority at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine in Basra Governorate, announced the provision of treatment services to more than 834 patients under the Medical Evacuation Program, in partnership with the Iraqi Ministry of Health.

The hospital stated in a release obtained by the Official Website that "the program encompassed the delivery of over 12,500 therapeutic sessions, which included external beam radiation therapy, internal radiation therapy (brachytherapy), and chemotherapy, in addition to radioactive isotope therapy such as radioactive iodine and lutetium."

It added that "these services represent a significant step toward localizing oncology treatment services within Iraq and reducing the need for patients to travel abroad, while delivering specialized medical care inside Basra Governorate."

It noted that "the hospital continues to offer advanced therapeutic services to patients, contributing to supporting efforts to localize treatment and enhancing the capabilities of the Iraqi healthcare system in the field of oncology care."
