The Disaster Management Center, operating under the Health and Medical Education Authority at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, has released its official totals for medical and healthcare services delivered to pilgrims during the 2026 Arbaeen pilgrimage, revealing that 38,092 patients benefited from its medical care.
In a statement obtained by the Official Website, the Center noted that "medical and healthcare personnel intensified their round-the-clock efforts to provide the highest standard of medical services and healthcare to pilgrims arriving to observe the Arbaeen of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him). These services spanned multiple categories and various medical conditions, which were managed to the highest clinical standards across field hospitals and designated medical centers."
The Center detailed that "patient demographics were divided between 20,189 Iraqi nationals and 17,903 foreign and Arab pilgrims. Outpatient clinics received 35,820 patients, while inpatient admissions reached 2,253. Additionally, 12 cases were referred to specialized hospitals, and 7 critical emergencies were handled immediately."
It further stated that "services included dispensing 34,629 medical prescriptions and conducting 2,091 laboratory tests. This effort was accomplished through the full mobilization of our medical and health personnel, including 150 physicians, 70 pharmacists, and 500 nurses, ensuring comprehensive healthcare coverage for the pilgrims."
The Imam Hussain Holy Shrine continuously strives—through its various service and health bodies—to offer diverse forms of care and support to the guests of the Master of Martyrs (peace be upon him) during major million-strong pilgrimages, helping maintain a safe and healthy environment for all visitors.
