The Secretary-General of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, Mr. Hassan Rashid Jawad Al-Abaichi, affirmed that the Arbaeen pilgrimage represents a global human gathering that embodies the values and principles established by Imam Hussain (peace be upon him). His remarks came during his speech at the opening of the 10th International Scientific Conference on the Arbaeen Pilgrimage, organized by the Karbala Center for Studies and Research at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine.
The Secretary-General stated that approximately 20 million pilgrims participated in this year's Arbaeen pilgrimage, including more than 5 million Arab and foreign visitors from over 172 countries, representing various ethnicities, religions, and sects. He noted that "these crowds gathered to commemorate the human values established by Imam Hussain (peace be upon him)."
He explained that "the Hussaini uprising laid down human and Islamic values, most notably the rejection of injustice, supporting truth and the oppressed, enjoining good and forbidding wrong, and respecting human dignity and rights."
He pointed out that "the Arbaeen pilgrimage has become a global model for brotherhood and solidarity through the participation of millions from diverse ethnicities, religions, and sects, reflecting the universal nature of Imam Hussain's (peace be upon him) humanitarian message."
He highlighted that "the impact of the Hussaini uprising extended beyond the Event of Taff to become a message of freedom, justice, and resistance against oppression and tyranny," emphasizing that "the principles of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) remain alive in the conscience of nations."
It is worth noting that the 10th International Scientific Conference on the Arbaeen Pilgrimage convened to explore the intellectual, human, and civilization dimensions of the pilgrimage, featuring the participation of researchers and academics from both within Iraq and abroad.
