Safir Imam Hussain Surgical Hospital, affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, has announced the full mobilization of its medical and healthcare resources to implement its special plan for the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussain (PBUH). The plan involves more than (1,500) doctors and volunteers and provides a total capacity of (400) beds to deliver comprehensive medical and healthcare services to pilgrims arriving in the holy city of Karbala.
Speaking to the official website, the hospital's Administrative Director, Engineer Abbas Abdul Ali, said, "Under the directives of the Representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalaei, Safir Imam Hussain Surgical Hospital has mobilized all of its human and medical resources to implement the healthcare plan for the Arbaeen pilgrimage through field hospitals, emergency centers, and fixed and mobile medical units, as part of an integrated plan aimed at providing the best possible treatment services to pilgrims."
He explained that "the medical plan is based on a capacity of (300) beds inside and outside the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain, in addition to (100) beds at Safir Imam Hussain Surgical Hospital, bringing the total bed capacity to (400)."
He added that "the plan is being implemented by (1,200) volunteers, in addition to (396) physicians from the hospital's staff, including specialist physicians and dentists, to provide round-the-clock medical care."
He further stated that "evacuation facilities include the field hospital at the Courtyard of Lady Aqilah Zainab (PBUH) with a capacity of (60) beds, and Safir Imam Hussain Surgical Hospital, which includes (4) operating theaters and a capacity of (100) beds. The Emergency Center on Al-Shuhadaa Street has also been incorporated into this year's medical plan following its completion, serving as an advanced medical center, alongside two emergency centers inside the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain, one designated for men and the other for women."
He noted that "the evacuation plan includes the deployment of (30) large ambulances and (12) small ambulances. Lady Khadija Al-Kubra Women's Hospital will serve as the supporting hospital for female patients, while Imam Zain Al-Abideen Hospital will receive cardiac and neurological cases. In addition, the Lady Zainab Al-Kubra Center, located near the Shrine of Abu Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (PBUH), has been designated as an advanced emergency center with a capacity of (25) beds."
He added that "the medical plan also includes coordination with the Operations Department of the Karbala Health Directorate to provide support through (250) mobile paramedics deployed throughout the Old City and in and around the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain."
He emphasized that "the hospital has allocated (4) operating theaters functioning (24) hours a day across (9) medical specialties to ensure the uninterrupted provision of healthcare and treatment services throughout the Arbaeen pilgrimage."
The Imam Hussain Holy Shrine continues implementing its comprehensive plan for the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussain (PBUH) by mobilizing all of its service, medical, engineering, organizational, and media departments and institutions, while deploying its human and logistical resources across the various routes leading to the holy city of Karbala to provide the best possible services to pilgrims from inside and outside Iraq.
