Al-Zahraa University for Women Participates in OIC Ministerial Conference on Women in Pakistan

Al-Zahraa University for Women, affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, participated in the Ninth Ministerial Conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Women, held in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad. The university was represented by its President, Dr. Zainab Al-Mulla Al-Sultani, who attended on behalf of the Republic of Iraq.

Speaking to the official website, President of the university, Dr. Zainab Al-Mulla Al-Sultani, said, "Al-Zahraa University for Women, affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, participated in the Ninth Ministerial Conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Women, which opened in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad. The participation came through an official nomination and assignment by the General Secretariat of the Iraqi Council of Ministers / Iraqi National Women's Department."

She explained that "the conference is one of the leading ministerial forums in the Islamic world, serving as a high-level international platform to discuss ways to empower women and develop policies that support their active participation in education, scientific research, the economy, and decision-making."

She added that "the conference brought together delegations from (57) member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, with the participation of ministers, ambassadors, deputy ministers, and experts. Under the theme, 'The Social, Economic, and Political Empowerment of Women in OIC Member States: Challenges and Future Prospects,' participants reviewed progress made under the organization's action plan for the advancement of women in preparation for the final recommendations to be adopted as part of the Islamabad Declaration, establishing a common framework for cooperation among member states."

She further stated that "the Iraqi delegation presented an academic proposal calling for the activation of scientific and social training and qualification programs for women, the establishment of an academic network linking Islamic and Arab universities, and the implementation of the Visiting Professor program as a practical mechanism for exchanging expertise and building sustainable academic partnerships among higher education institutions in member states."

The participation of Al-Zahraa University for Women in this international forum reflects the academic and developmental vision of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine in supporting educational institutions, empowering Iraqi women through education and knowledge, and strengthening the presence of Iraqi universities at regional and international forums, contributing to the establishment of effective academic partnerships and reinforcing their international standing.
